This is Esther - She’s an Overcomer

Our 21st client was a young woman who came to us through Unbound Now, an organization that helps rescue women and children out of human trafficking. Esther’s support group who came to the giveaway were gushing with good things to say about this single mother that can be summed up in her Advocate’s simple but powerful words: “Esther is an overcomer.”

We require our Advocates to have at least six months of relationship with the applicant before applying so they can have a good feel for the applicant’s situation and character. A hallmark of the people our Advocates nominate is they faithfully attend and complete the programs the Advocate’s organization offers them, finding a way to be there, rain or shine. Esther’s Advocates all mentioned this about her - she actually had three different ladies show up to celebrate with her, one driving in from Waco to attend! Each of the three offered a glimpse into Esther’s determination to change her trajectory, including her willingness to ask for help, her openness about her past, and her faithful efforts to create a stable environment for herself and her little girl.

Esther is working full time in an ISD, while pursuing her degree in teaching. She couldn’t wait to show us pictures of her four-year-old daughter, her inspiration to continue taking steps forward in her journey.

The joy radiating off Esther was palpable, and she talked openly about her faith in God. How good it is to know that she is already following Jesus and He is her source of strength! Once the paperwork was completed, Esther pulled out the first things she wanted to put as reminders on her 2009 Toyota Corolla.
