Two Stories of Hope

These moms overcame grief, addiction and setbacks to reach stability for their families.

We’re thrilled to introduce to you clients #34 and #35!

Today, you may be driving around to drop kids off at school or daycare, grab some groceries at the store, or pick up a prescription at the pharmacy. Now, because of the help and generosity of their neighbors, these two ladies are able to do these things as well.

Scroll to the end to see how you can contribute to our next client stories!

Clients #34 and #35 are both single moms working multiple jobs. For each of them, reliable transportation is not just a way to make life easier, but to make life transformation possible for their families. These women are determined and resilient and continue to take courageous steps towards recovery, each in their own way.

Shana’s life was shattered when she experienced unimaginable loss, and in her grief became dependent on substances to manage her trauma.

After recovering from addiction, she continued to pursue a life of sobriety with the help of Bella House, an organization dedicated to helping pregnant women without a home.

Shana was so transformed by her experience at Bella House, and showed herself to be such a reliable resident, she became a Resident Assistant and is now on staff at Bella House. Shana now helps women who are in the same situation she was in. The look in her advocates’ eyes when they watched her receive her car was one of deep affection and overwhelming pride as they watched her and her son receive a gift that would change their lives.

Monya was introduced to us from Hope for the Cities in Wylie.

A single mom of two teenagers, she works weekdays at Walmart and weekend nights at a gas station to make ends meet for her family. Monya’s advocate has been a constant supportive presence and says Monya deserves to “catch a break,” after her life has given her challenge after challenge.

What stood out about Monya was her desire to give her children a better life than she’s had, and this is what has kept her moving forward despite the setbacks. Monya has learned how to ask for help and receive it graciously. This car will allow her to be more than just a provider for her children, but a presence in their home and in their lives.

At OnRamp DFW, we’ve seen how the gift of a vehicle alleviates the unreliability of public transportation and the pressures of managing work and life schedules that require transportation. What once was a challenge is now an opportunity for our clients to be with their children, to sign them up and take them to extracurricular activities, and to be available to spend time with them - time that would have been spent waiting on the next ride to arrive.

A special thanks to Bella House and Hope for the Cities for the work they are doing to support Shana, Monya, and others in similar situations.

Join us in making a difference!

God is continuing to bring us clients from all corners of DFW, in fact, by the end of March we will have helped 8 clients with vehicles so far in 2025. To put this in perspective, in 2024 we were able to help 15 total for the entire year!

With this increasing demand, we have a great need for additional monthly financial partners - neighbors who see the value of helping people in DFW with the tangible gift of reliable transportation, given in the name of Jesus.

Here are three reasons to choose OnRamp DFW as an investment in your neighbors and the kingdom of heaven.

  1. Studies have shown access to reliable transportation to be more important for upward mobility than a high school diploma. OnRamp DFW is the only Christian organization in DFW giving vehicles away to people in need of reliable transportation.

  2. Knowing the stories of the individuals and families who are impacted by each gift lets us be personally involved with the needs in our DFW community. We include client updates several times a year so you can see the difference a vehicle is making in our clients’ lives.

  3. Though our ministry begins with a vehicle, we continue to care for clients with free maintenance and supportive prayer throughout their year of care. The vehicle gives us a wonderful opportunity to offer the good news of Jesus to those who are interested.
