The need is real
We started receiving client nominations about three weeks ago and since that time have heard about nine potential clients! We have interviewed several clients already and have several more to schedule. We are already overwhelmed by the incredible needs of those in our community. Each person we have met with has shown extraordinary tenacity and courage as they have tried to make their way with extremely limited resources. As we meet with each one, it is undeniable that a vehicle would not only impact the life of the driver, but also their entire family and their community. Here are a few of the clients we have had the honor of speaking with this last week:
- A large family (8 at home) who lost their family van in a hit and run accident, causing the mother to lose her job. The family continues to need to transport 5 children to different schools and get the father to work. They are barely making ends meet as they provide for their family and make sure their kids get the education they need to have a better life than they have had.
- A woman who has a husband who is unable to work and a young daughter. Her car is so unreliable that she doesn't feel comfortable putting her baby in the car even for short drives. On the day we spoke with her, the car was towed without reason, and she was faced with the fact that the car might not be worth the money to get it back from the towing company.
- A young man who walks to work then uses the little money he has to take Uber to college where he is studying to become a financial advisor in hopes of changing his family's future.
We can't wait to start changing lives through gifting vehicles! You can join us through donating at www.onrampdfw.org/donate
